This keeps us free from external influence and allows us to report independently. When content is free, others often decide what you get to see – and we want to avoid that. No. Unfortunately we cannot automatically convert supporters into members, partly for data protection reasons. We therefore have to ask you to register as a member in the regular way and to cancel or change your existing payment order.

Yes. We are very happy to thank generous donors with a membership – unfortunately this does not happen automatically. Please contact us at oval@oval.media with informal proof of your donations.

That depends. An annual payment in advance is also possible via all other payment methods (see below). Unfortunately, we can only organise monthly payments via the payment methods mentioned above, because they allow an automated process. We would have to reconcile direct bank transfers with the list of registered members almost every day, and we do not have enough staff for that. We hope for your understanding.

Normally we activate your account within 1–3 working days after receiving your payment. Unfortunately, we occasionally receive payments without an email address. In that case we can neither contact you nor activate your membership. If this applies to you, please contact us immediately at oval@oval.media

After every account activation, a registration email is automatically sent to the address entered. If you have not received it, please check your spam folder. Sometimes we also receive an error message that the recipient’s mailbox cannot be reached, often because the mailbox is full. In that case we have no way of reaching you! Please check the possible causes above and contact us at oval@oval.media if necessary.

There can be various reasons for this.

• Do you have an OVALmedia account (as an OVAL Abo member or as a shop customer)? Then sign in here with those login details.
• The shop and oval.media share one login – shop customers use their usual shop login details. Forgot your password? Set a new password
• Are you fully registered? You can only log in once registration is complete. You received an email from us for this – please also check your spam folder. Registration is only complete once you have chosen a username and a password. If you cannot find the email to complete your registration, please contact us at oval@oval.media so that we can send you the link again.
• Did you make a typo in your email address when signing up? Enter your username instead of your email address in the login field, and please correct your email address under My profile If you no longer remember your username, please write to us at oval@oval.media and tell us which payment method you used, so that we can find your registration.
• Former registration as an interested party: Until November 2022 it was possible to sign up as a member free of charge. This option no longer exists, and we have deleted the personal data of these users.
• Former registration as a supporter: Since our website was relaunched in November 2022, we no longer store the personal data of our supporters and have removed these addresses. It is safer for you as a supporter to manage your donations yourself via your bank account, your PayPal account or your credit card account via Stripe. If you have any problems, feel free to send us a message at webstore@oval.media.

If you are registered as a member, you can set a new password at any time  >> Forgot password People often save their passwords in their browser. Please check whether an old password is saved there. This is an individual setting in each browser, so we cannot provide instructions here.

We accept bank transfers, cash by post (to OVALmedia, Droysenstraße 5, 10629 Berlin, Germany), credit cards and PayPal. Payment is made at the beginning of each subscription period.
