The Professor | KOLLATERAL

Professor Dr Stefan Hockertz is a leading figure in his field, with decades of research on the authorisation of vaccines. The scientist runs institutes in Germany and in Switzerland. As a biologist and toxicologist he teaches at the university in Hamburg.

As a scientist the professor questions the federal government’s corona policy. He publishes his questions in texts and interviews. A search of his house, the seizure of his property and of his work follow. The end of his professional and civil life in Germany. The professor flees to Switzerland. From there he tells his story – a scientific thriller.

I cried for weeks. I can talk about it today. Back then, I couldn't talk about what had happened to me. I had no way to. And the people around me suffered quite a lot from that, too. That is completely clear to me. On the other hand, I have to say that when I came here to Switzerland, I didn't know how I would be received here. I didn't know whether I would be persecuted here as well. Until I found out through my confidants in Germany that here in Switzerland, at least for the moment, I am not under threat of persecution. I worked a great deal with the Paul Ehrlich Institute, because I myself approved vaccines.

I come from vaccine approval myself, from the approval of medicinal products. I also had personal connections to the Robert Koch Institute, to colleagues who used to work with me and who later went there. And I remember a conversation with a colleague from the Paul Ehrlich Institute, who told me that all the decisions being made there now are politically driven. And of course he never wanted to speak out publicly, because he was afraid for his position, for his job, for his reputation. Of course he was attacked, just as all of us are attacked who hold a different opinion. But I am sure that, especially in these institutes, at the working level, there are a great many people who are scientifically throwing up their hands in despair, and I also wrote this to Mr. Cichutek back then, who is the president of the Paul Ehrlich Institute.
