William Toel | NARRATIVE #127 by Robert Cibis

Deutschtum 2.0

Hello, my name is Robert Cibis. I'm very proud and happy to be here with William Toel. He is an old and wise man helping us to understand the world we live in, especially us Germans who often don't know really where we are at and where we go to. And I don't know why, but for some reason, for many years, you've been thinking and talking about how Germans became what they are today. And of course, the world is global and all countries are connected. However, there's something specific about how we see ourselves, we Germans. So I'm very curious to learn about this and also to learn about what this means in the current times where really I feel confused. I'm not just confused about what is happening in geopolitics, but I'm also confused about what is happening with the people around me.

I feel some of them are happy, but seemingly not willing to see what is in front of their eyes because I say to them, look, this is dangerous. Think about this and this. I don't want to know. And this is really shocking sometimes for me and, as I said, confusing. So I'd be very happy if you had me to get some connections between the different perceptions I have. And so why are Germans different to other people in other countries in Western societies? Well, they're different because they have to be. They were created. I'm not speaking today of religion. That's a different business. But Germans are created not to be superior, but to be a different people. And they have a role to play in that. But the world is in mediocrity today because not only you, Robert, but all Germans live in confusion.
